ABOUT FDC LESSONS
I was employed full time in the Ft. Worth, TX Independent School District for thirty-two years – 28 years in my own classroom, and
4 years on the social studies support team working with teachers k-12. After retiring in 2004, I continue to work part time for the FWISD, with the Teaching American History grants, and mentoring new social studies teachers.
I believe that a teacher must create lessons that meet the needs of the students. The lesson that was taught last year may not work with this year’s students without modifications. Thus these thirty lessons are starting points. Use the entire lesson or just a section to generate conversations with and among students, to help the students connect with a historical person or event. Use the images and critical thinking skills to bring history alive.
