These lessons tie the images found on a first day cover honoring an American woman with another primary source document such as a letter, speech, newspaper article, poem or radio show. By combining two primary sources, lessons challenge students to dig deeper by answering the basic questions starting with Who, What, Where, and When, then finishing with the analyzing questions of How and Why. These lessons depict the vision and voice of Abigail Adams, Sojourner Truth, Julia Ward Howe, Clara Barton, Frances E. Willard, Ida B. Wells, Susan B. Anthony, Moina B. Michael, Eleanor Roosevelt, Marian Anderson and Oveta Culp Hobby.
